Getting to Know Campus

UNCG is a beautiful campus that is unique in architecture and history. Starting as a teaching college for women, the North Carolina State Normal and Industrial School was formed in 1981 under the direction of Charles McIver. Pioneering women’s education in areas of physical education, nursing, the arts, and education, the School would be come the North Carolina College for Women. After becoming the third institution of the University of North Carolina System in 1932, the College became and the Woman’s College of the University of North Carolina (WC). And in 1964, WC became a coeducational institution and transitioned to the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
